The Beastie Boys have announced a few shows to spice up their previously announced August tour.The “Gala Events,” as the New York trio is calling them, will follow already scheduled shows in four cities, generally in nearby or neighboring locations. Three of the shows–in New York, Denver and San Francisco–will be instrumental-oriented affairs, according to the band, with the new Aug. 20 Los Angeles date featuring a more traditional hip-hop production.

The “Gala” shows “will be in smaller spots, more exclusive, more intimate,” according to a press release from the group. “This will be more like quality time, our time, just you and the band sitting by a fire on a tropical beach late at night being serenaded with love songs. These shows are for people that are into our weird stuff.”

The group kicks off its summer tour Aug. 1 in Philadelphia, and is now scheduled to make stops in 12 cities by late August; the full itinerary is included below.

Rockers Velvet Revolver have announced dates for the first leg of their upcoming tour with Alice in Chains.The outing will kick off Aug. 5 in Baltimore, MD, and hit mainly outdoor venues along the East Coast and into the Midwest and Canada through the end of that month. Details are listed below. The full trek is expected to stretch into October.

Velvet Revolver which comprises former Stone Temple Pilots singer Weiland; former Guns N’ Roses members Slash (guitar), Duff McKagan (bass) and Matt Sorum (drums); and former Wasted Youth guitarist Dave Kushner–launched a world tour earlier this year in South America, has since completed a run of the US and is currently in Europe.

Toby Keith is hitting the road to begin the “Big Dog Daddy Tour” which will see him traveling all over the United States until the end of September.

The country superstar is set to launch the trek in Birmingham, AL, and play amphitheaters and festivals all over the US through September. Rush hit the stage last night in Atlanta, GA, to kick off its Snakes & Arrows World Tour, which is set to cross North America and Europe into late October.The Canadian prog-rock trio recently added a Sept. 17 stop at New York City’s Madison Square Garden to close out the US portion of the trek. Details for the North American run–Rush’s first since its 30th anniversary tour in 2004–are listed below. The European leg, which launches Oct. 3 in Glasgow, Scotland, is detailed at the group’s website.

Rush is supporting last month’s “Snakes & Arrows,” which debuted at No. 3 on The Billboard 200 chart. The album is the band’s first set of new material since 2002’s “Vapor Trails.” The first single from the new record, “Far Cry,” made the Top 10 on rock-radio charts and the second single, “Spindrift,” is currently making the rounds.

Country singer Sara Evans will work a slate of her own headlining dates around her intermittent support duties for Kenny Chesney Flip Flop Summer Tour.The Nashville-based singer will kick off her own run of shows June 21 in Rockford, IL, with headlining dates scheduled for 18 cities through mid-September. Evans backed Chesney’s June 9 appearance in Pittsburgh, and will do so an additional five times this summer, with the next opening date for the country megastar coming June 23 in Philadelphia.

With the kickoff of this year’s Tim McGraw / Faith Hill tour just days away, the superstar couple has selected opening talent for the mainstage while announcing a second stage that will feature up-and-coming performers.Openers for the Soul2Soul Tour, which kicks off June 5 with two nights in Omaha, NE, will consist of Lori McKenna , Taylor Swift, and The Warren Brothers, with McGraw and Hill promising “a few surprises along the way.”

A second stage outside arenas on the tour will feature talent handpicked by McGraw himself, according to the tour’s publicist. The “MyGIG Infotainment Stage” will feature Halfway to Hazard and Lance Miller, whose Warren Brothers-produced debut single, “She Really Loves Me,” was recently released on WB Records.

The trek, which now comprises 44 dates, is scheduled to make stops at arenas across the US and Canada through mid-August. The nine-show Canadian leg marks McGraw and Hill’s first string of co-headlining stops throughout that country.

After kicking off a hot-selling reunion tour Monday (5/28), The Police have revealed a pair of new fall dates, creeping closer to confirming an expected second US leg for the outing.The band played to more than 20,000 fans in Vancouver, British Columbia, Monday night, and is set to play a second show at that city’s GM Place.  Rock trio Fiction Plane fronted by Joe Sumner, son of Police singer/bassist Sting–held down the opening slot and will continue to do so throughout the tour

Meanwhile, organizers have announced that additional support artists–including The Fratellis, Foo Fighters, Maroon 5 and Maximo Park–will play on some of the trek’s upcoming stadium shows. The specific lineups for each stadium date haven’t been announced.

Newly added to the massive trek–the first US leg of which stretches from May to August and is followed by a European leg during September and October–are an Oct. 31 New York show and a Nov. 11 appearance in Boston.
